Early spring found Rolf in the cold Himalayan region of Himachal Pradesh, India. Traveling the Inner Line along the Tibetan border (a route which requires a special travel permit for "security" reasons), Rolf visited the predominately Buddhist districts of Kinnaur and Spiti until snow on a 15,000-foot mountain pass blocked his progress beyond the town of Kaza.
